Maiana Villegas

Maiana Villegas is the Social Media Assistant for the ‘Āko’ako’a Reef Restoration Program’s social media platforms. Maiana holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sustainability under the Institute of Sustainability and Resilience and the college of Interdisciplinary Studies, and a certificate in Marine Conservation under the Marine Options Program at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa. Prior to joining the ALAB team, she worked at the Parley Hawai’i AIR Station as a coordinator, where she advocated for marine education, plastic pollution awareness, and sustainable practices and efforts for the community on O’ahu. Maiana worked to establish the Parley Hawaii social media platform to highlight their community engagement, projects and up-coming events. Maiana was born and raised on the Island of Hawai’i where she grew up as an avid participant and advocate for ocean conservation and restoration work around Hawai’i and the world.
