Dr. Atsuko Fukunaga has been involved in coral reef monitoring activities in Hawaii for the last eight years and has a strong background in ecological statistics. Her research currently focuses on 3D analysis of coral reef habitats and the effects of reef structural complexity on associated reef organisms. She develops R and Python scripts that allow for quantitative assessments of reef structure and facilitates the use of Structure-from-Motion photogrammetry in coral reef ecology.
Dr. Atsuko Fukunaga is an Assistant Research Professor for the Center for Global Discovery and Conservation Science.
